Esse livro faz parte de um Blog Tour. (Basicamente, vc se inscreve e informa as suas preferências literárias, a editora te convida a participar de um blog tour e te manda o livro de graça em troca de um post review. Detalhe: livros em inglês) Na verdade, o tour foi na primeira semana desse mês, mas só recebi no fim da semana passada e terminei de ler hoje.


Vou confessar que não estava empolgada com o livro de início, até que carregou a imagem da capa (internet lenta é fogo) e eu me encantei completamente. Afinal, um livro tão lindo não poderia ser tão ruim assim! Quando chegou, eu já sabia que era ele, mesmo sem sequer ter visto a correspondência. Perdi o sono na mesma hora e comecei a ler.


Logo no início do livro vi que não me decepcionaria. Primeiramente, porque tem uma conexão com Eclesiastes, que dos livros da Bíblia é um dos meus favoritos. Depois, porque nos dois primeiros capítulos houve uma identificação enorme entre leitora e autora, pois ela estava falando justamente da adequação a um novo lugar e do relacionamento à distância que teve com quem hoje é seu marido. É tão bom 'ouvir' alguém que já passou pelas mesmas coisas que você!


O título do livro remete a uma manifestação artística que consiste em transformar um objeto comum em algo especial. (Talvez seja mais profundo que isso, mas este é o conceito que interessa). É essa a ideia do livro. Encontrar beleza em lugares estranhos, incomuns. A linguagem é agradável. Não exige um nível muito avançado de inglês, pelo contrário. Senti a autora conversando comigo como uma amiga.


A história se inicia quando Leeana se muda para Barém (um país do Oriente Médio que eu não imaginava que existisse) por causa do 'recém-marido' militar, quando a Guerra do Iraque estava prestes a começar. Depois de um ano, eles voltam aos Estados Unidos, mas o marido dela tem que viajar em missão diversas vezes.

(Quando se fala de Guerra do Iraque, as pessoas pensam nos americanos malvados que vão destruir a terra alheia. Como eu disse em outro post, nenhum povo merece a guerra. É covardia do Soberano lutar arriscando a vida alheia. Não há caras maus num campo de batalha. Todos são vítimas.)

Dessa leitura, concluo que devo relaxar e enxergar o que há de belo em todo lugar. Assim como Leeana, preciso me conhecer, além do que as pessoas veem.

No final do livro, há um 'desafio' pra cada capítulo. Pra quem quiser, vou postar diariamente o desafio no outro blog (Fazer Estrelas) que compartilho com minhas irmãs a partir de amanhã.

You will receive the book at home for posting review on your blog). Actually, the tour were the first week of March, but I just received the book last week and finished reading this morning.

I have to recognize that I was not very excited with the book at first, so then I seen the cover and totally got enchanted. After all, a beautiful book like this couldn't be that bad! When it arrived, I knew it was the book, although I didn't seen the mail. I just waked up and started reading.


From the beggining, I found that wouldnt be dissapointed. First, for its connection with Ecclesiastes, one of the Bible's book that I love most. Then, because at the first two chapters I totally felt into her place because she was telling about her moving to a foreign place and getting into a long-distance relationship, just like me. That's so amazing to hear someone who had been where you are placed in.


The title refers to the genre of art that convert a commom object into something special. (Maybe it's kind of deeper, but that's the concept that matters). That's the point of the book. Discovering beauty in foreign places. Tha language is pleasant. Sometimes I felt like I was talking to a friend.


All the history beggins when the author moves into Bahrain (a Middle East country that I never knew about) for her just-husband Navy SEAL, when Iraq War were just beggining. One year later, they come back to USA, but her husband went to workups so many times.


(Talking about Iraq War, people think about the evil americans going to destroy the someone's land. As I said in another post, no people deserves war. That's such a wickedness of the Sovereign to fight with the other's lives. There's no bad guys in a battle camp. They're all victims.)


At this reading, I can conclude that I might to take it easy and see the beauty in everywhere. As Leeana, I need to know myself, beyond what the people see.
